When I first went looking for my dream dress, I was looking for a mermaid dress that had a dramatic bottom and hugged my curves. I tried on dresses like that and found them to be very cumbersome, hard to walk in, and took the attention away from me as the bride and from the event. As soon as I tried the sample size on for this dress, I had a similar reaction to when I first met my husband. I told my mom almost the same thing, "I think this is the one." I went on trying other dresses and kept finding things wrong that this dress had.
There was something so special about the amount of flare at the bottom and the leaf applique that drew me in. The photos on Allure Bridals' website do not do this dress justice. The dress has a base color of champagne which has a hint of a pink color with ivory tulle and appliques. This difference in color between the base and the tulle/appliques made the leaf appliques pop and helped to not wash me out. I'm a very light-skinned woman and I was so happy with how this dress looked on me. This dress fit me like a glove and perfectly hugged my curves when it came in.
I hope this dress can give someone else the same feeling I had when I first put it on!
At 5'7'' tall, this dress hit the floor perfectly. I chose to add a bustle so I could dance without tripping on the beautiful train. I added two side straps to the bust with the tulle and leaf applique that is on this dress. I made them very loose so I could easily slip in and out of them if I chose to without fear of ripping or damaging the addition or the dress. For that reason, they sit lower than typical side straps that sit off the shoulder.
When having alterations done, due to my bust size (40H cup size), I wanted to make sure there was no chance of spilling out of this gorgeous gown so I tightened the bust to fit me a little more snug.
NOTE: Cup sizing is not correct on this listing. My cup size is 40H.
